Is this the best seat at South Bank?

They are calling it the best seat at South Bank, and Brisbane's Stoke Bar certainly presents a good case for top billing.

Perched almost on the edge of the Brisbane River, this bar is a combination of good food, excellent cocktails and that view. Throw in a penchant for locally sourced produce and a chef who really knows his stuff, and you have a top class combo.

Stoke Bar is, of course, part of the much lauded StokehouseQ.  Ensconced in its own building with an enviable position, Stoke Bar's views take in much of the Brisbane River's city reaches. As the afternoon morphs into evening, twinkling city lights add a new dimension.

Grazing menu

The bar menu is full of delicious treats designed for grazing. Think sweetcorn risotto, soda battered fish and chips, wagyu cheeseburgers or a soft shell crab slider.

Cocktails include a lilly pilly G & T,  River Rider with a lemon myrtle note, and the too pretty Lavender Lime Breeze which comes topped with violet foam.

Check the video below to see Stoke Bar on a lazy Stoked on Sunday afternoon. Sessions start at 2 pm with a DJ spinning a few tunes.

Ed+bK rating: 4.5/5 Stoke Bar is a top location with food to match. Great way to show off Brisbane to visitors.
Bottom line: Bar snacks are priced from $9 to $22.
Best tip:  Friday afternoons from 4 pm is another great time for this bar.
